Reading Central Salvation Army

THE SINGING COMPANY

The Singing Company

is the newest of the four musical sections and its origins are not well documented. Nevertheless, the present day section has established a very valuable role in the life of the church. It provides music regularly in the Sunday morning worship meeting.

This junior section was the first in the Reading Central Corps to venture into the recording studio to join with the Maidenhead and Staines Singing Companies to record 4 tracks on the Christmas compact disc Joy to the World. The same three singing companies also appeared together at the Westminster Central Hall in 1991 when the recording was released.

The Singing Company consists of young Christians whose ages range between 7 and 16. The group is trained and conducted by Karen Smith.

The Singing Company has visited Tunbridge Wells, Enfield and Eastbourne, and several other centres. It has often featured in the nativity presentation at the annual Carol Concert which, for many years, was held at the Hexagon theatre in Reading.
